About Buddhism (What is the difference)
Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana
Some Theravadins consider that the Buddha did not teach Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, and regard them as mixed with Hinduism and not a pure form of Buddhism. Mahayananist and Vajrayanists on the other hand, view Theravadins as followers of the lowest teachings of Buddhism only concerned with their personal wish to attain Nirvana by mainly emphasizing renunciation and monasticism. These are the views of narrow-minded Asian and culturist Buddhists. Since the end of World War II, all three Yanas of Buddhism have spread to west. Now it is time to see the wholeness of Buddhism rather than see those three vehicles as different schools. All these three traditions are Buddhists as they all accept the Four Seals of Dharma and seek to refuge in the Triple Gem. In this lecture, Lama Choedak Rinpoche will highlight the different approaches of vehicles as merely different attitudes rather than different schools as such. He says : "It is time for Buddhists to come together and claim all these three as one valid teaching of the Buddha and collectively call it 'Ekayana' and develop mutual respect and learn from each other and promote peace and harmony amongst all."

Death and Dying : Think of Death and get a new life
For most of us the thought of death and dying fills us with a feeling of fear, anxiety and sadness. But there is another way of looking at it. Accepting that death is inevitable and knowing and knowing what to do and preparing for it as an important part of life can in fact be a whole new beginning: We can stop this crazy race and slow down, assess what we really want out of life, stop worthless pursuits, mend past mistakes, honour those who are still alive, and start living with a renewed sense of joy and purpose. In this teaching, Lama Choedak will cover extensive material on the subject, including a whole teaching session on Bardo, the intermediate state, after death and how we help the dead by doing Soor prayer
Cost : $70 (concession available)
Sunday 19th. of Feb. 9.30am.- 4.30pm
Meditation on How to Remove Negative Karma
Difficulties and sufferings are created by negative deeds, words and thoughts. These are known as 'negative karma'. If the negative karmas are not removed they become physical illnesses, stress, lack of purpose and can cause severe depression. Negative karmas are a result of uncontrolled expression of destructive emotions, anger resentment and guilt. Destructive emotions are caused by ignorance which in turn is caused by clinging to the self and it's improper feelings, attitudes and perceptions. But negative karma can be removed and purified through holistic meditation. The most famous form of this meditation is known as 'Vajrasattva Purification Medtation' Lama Choedak Rinpoche will teach the 'Seven Profound Meditation Techniques' followed by transmission of Vajrasattva practice. This will empower you to remove negative karmas of onesself and others and become liberated from negative karma and evil energy.
